65 million years ago is when the dinosaurs went extinct. You might be thinking how they went extinct. A long, long time ago, dinosaurs were on this earth. But then, an asteroid hit Planet Earth and that’s when so much dust blocked the sun on every part of the land. Earth was covered in dust. And that’s when the dinosaurs could not live any more. So that’s when they died. And you can only see their bones now. But other people don't think an asteroid hit Planet Earth. Some people think that a big volcano made the dinosaurs go extinct. Other people think that when the weather got too cold, then they went extinct.
DID YOU KNOW? Birds are actually descendants of dinosaurs. That means birds are like the dinosaur's cousins. DID YOU KNOW? The brontosaurus isn't actually called brontosaurus. When people found brontosaurus' bones, they thought it was a new species of dinosaur so they called it 'brontosaurus'. But later on, they found out that someone already found that fossil and called it 'apatosaurus'.
