Pufferfish Blow Up

Pufferfish are fish that have a kind of square shaped head and then gets skinnier. When the pufferfish gets scared, he puffs up to be a prickly balloon. The pufferfish actually has enough poison in it to kill 30 grown-up people. Pufferfish are also called porcupine fish.

How do pufferfish blow up? The pufferfish gulps a lot of water so it can get bigger and bigger and that's how the spines really poke up. When I was seven, I went to Oahu and saw a pufferfish swim right in front of me, not blown up though. Well, we think it was a pufferfish.
